Racquet Center

Our after-school program helps students in grades 5-8 continue honing their skills after the fall USTA middle school season. We focus on technical aspects, such as basic tennis strokes, rallies, scoring in competitions, and other relevant skills, so that athletes can acquire and progress through the fundamentals. Based on skill levels, we will advance to learn tactical aspects of directions and competition strategies.

This policy is intended to ensure the safe, fair, and enjoyable use of the Albuquerque Academy Racquet Center for all members of our community. It is not intended to be all-inclusive of every circumstance. Exceptions and additions are handled by the head of school and the director of racquet sports.

Eligibility and Access

• Academy Students: All enrolled students of the school are eligible to use the tennis courts as part of school-sanctioned activities and during designated school hours. Interest in weekend play will be subject to the normal fees, availability, and reservation system.
• Academy Employees: Employees are permitted to use the tennis and pickleball courts 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, subject to availability and provided they follow the reservation system. Interest in weekend play will be subject to the normal fees, availability, and reservation system.
• Guests: Guests may use the courts as part of scheduled group programming, to attend private lessons, and for open court times per designated hours and availability. Registration and payment through the USTA-affiliated registration software linked on the Academy’s racquet center web page is required.

Court Reservation and Scheduling

• Reservation System: Courts must be reserved in advance through the Academy’s online USTA-sanctioned booking system.
• Smart Gate Access: Registered guests will receive an access code to open the Smart Gate for scheduled court use.
• Campus Access and Parking: Registered guests should enter the Academy’s campus through the main gate at Burlison and Wyoming. A valid driver’s license is required for security check-in. Parking is available in Lot P1 nearest the tennis courts. View a map.
• Hours of Operation: Courts are generally open 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday. Courts are closed during school events unless otherwise noted.
• Priority Use: School-related activities (e.g., team practices, physical education classes, etc.) take priority over personal use. These events will be scheduled in advance.

Costs and Payment

Court costs can be conveniently paid online through the USTA-affiliated booking system. This streamlined process allows guests to secure court time easily and efficiently.

Court Fees: The fee for court use is posted within the court reservation software. Payment is required at the time of booking to confirm the reservation.

Payment Process: Payment is made through the USTA-affiliated registration software linked on the Academy’s racquet center web page.

Court Rules and Etiquette

• Attire: Proper tennis attire, including non-marking tennis shoes, is required at all times. Shirts must be worn on the courts.
• Behavior: All users are expected to maintain respectful and sportsmanlike conduct. Offensive language, aggressive behavior, and unsportsmanlike conduct are not tolerated. Offenders will be asked to leave and may not be allowed to schedule future court time.
• Noise Control: Users must be mindful of noise levels. No loud music or disruptive behavior is allowed on or near the courts.
• Time Limits: Court sessions are limited to 1 hour for tennis and 90 minutes for pickleball during peak times. If others are waiting, please vacate the court promptly after your session.

Equipment and Facility Care

• Equipment: Any equipment needed is the responsibility of the user.
• Damage: Any damage to the courts, nets, or equipment must be reported to the director of racquet sports or an on-site racquet center employee/coach. Users responsible for damage may be held accountable for repair costs.
• Cleanliness and Trash Removal: Users are required to keep the courts clean and free of trash. All personal items, including clothing, food items, and beverage containers, must be removed and disposed of in proper containers after use.

Supervision and Safety

• Student Use: There is no student access to the courts without adult supervision during the school day. Children aged 14 and under must be supervised by an adult at all times while using the courts.
• Injury Reporting: Any injuries occurring on the courts must be reported to the racquet center’s on-site employee so that an incident report may be prepared.

Prohibited Activities

• No Alcoholic Beverages: Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the premises.
• No Smoking, Vaping, or Illicit Substances: Smoking, vaping, the use of tobacco products, or any other illicit substances are strictly prohibited on or around the courts.
• No Skateboards, Bicycles, or Other Equipment Unrelated to Racquet Sports: Equipment unrelated to racquet sports is not permitted on the courts at any time.
• No Pets: Pets are not allowed on the courts at any time.
• No Unauthorized Use: Unauthorized use of the courts is strictly prohibited.

Enforcement and Consequences

• Violation of Rules: Failure to adhere to the tennis and pickleball court policies may result in suspension of court privileges.
• Disciplinary Action: Repeat offenders or those involved in serious infractions may face disciplinary action from the school administration and/or law enforcement entities.

Indemnification

Guests and/or members of the racquet facility shall defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Academy and its Board of Trustees, officers, agents, and employees from and against all claims, liabilities, loss, causes of action, damages, penalties, costs, and other expenses, including attorneys’ fees, whether involving intentional misconduct, negligence, or otherwise, arising out of or resulting from use of the facilities, or resulting from any acts or omissions by, employees, guests and/or members, licensees, assignees, or successors.

Amendments and Revisions

Albuquerque Academy reserves the right to amend or update these policies at any time. Users will be notified of any changes through official school communication channels.
